Why did you choose CAAD at ¹ú²úBT?
I chose CAAD because it felt like the place where I could grow, be challenged and belong all at once. I didn’t come to Mississippi State knowing anyone, but the kindness and intentionality I experienced on my first visit made the decision easy. CAAD’s small, tight-knit community, the hands-on learning, and the way faculty truly invest in their students made me feel seen and supported. I wanted to be part of a college where creativity is encouraged, people know your name, and you’re pushed to become the best version of yourself, and the College of Art, Architecture, and Design has been exactly that.
Favorite Spot on campus?
My favorite spot at Mississippi State University lies at the heart of campus, the Drill Field. It’s where you see students heading to class, friends tossing a football, people enjoying the weather, and familiar faces you’ve met throughout your time at ¹ú²úBT. The Drill Field connects nearly every corner of campus, and because of that, it has become a place of community and belonging. It’s a shared space that every Bulldog experiences, and to me, it represents the spirit of Mississippi State.
If you could go back and tell your high school self one thing, what would it be?
I would tell her that everything works out when you choose the place that feels like home. I’d remind her that confidence grows with experience, that the right people will find you, and that stepping into something new, even when it’s intimidating, leads to the best parts of life.
These are a few of my favorite things…
- When the bells chime at the Chapel of Memories
- Days in the studio when all of your ideas click
- Cowbells ringing in Davis Wade
- Running into a student from your orientation group on campus
- A fresh, ice-cold Dr. Pepper!
